SHERIFF SAYS ATTEMPTS TO HOLD HIM ACCOUNTABLE ‘FRIVOLOUS’
Sheriff preaches accountability but fails to follow the rules when it comes to promotions.

San Antonio, TX — Despite the lifting of the Temporary Restraining Order (TRO), which was granted on June 24, 2021, the Deputy Sheriff’s Association of Bexar County (DSABC) maintains its position that Sheriff Salazar circumvented the Bexar County Sheriff’s Civil Services Commission’s promotions rules, thereby creating an uneven playing field when it comes to opportunities in promotions for Bexar County Sheriff’s Deputies.

Sheriff Salazar called our attempt to make him follow the rules ‘frivolous’ and, unfortunately for our members and the citizens of Bexar County, that seems to be exactly what he thinks of any attempt to hold him accountable,” said Jeremy Payne, DSABC President. “The Sheriff can disregard our calls for him to follow an appropriate process when it comes to promotions, but that doesn’t mean we won’t call him out when he does so, or that we will stop standing up for our members’ rights.”
