To All DSABC Members:

1. Happy Holidays

The DSABC Board of Directors wants to wish all our Members a very happy holiday season. It has been a tough year, but you have all remained steadfast throughout, carrying out your duties effectively and professionally, despite the year’s many challenges, from the pandemic to staffing shortages. To show our appreciation, the Union is donating Gift Cards to assist in Holiday meals for the shifts.

2. Contract Negotiations

Contract negotiations continue with 3 meetings this month: December 2nd, 9th, and 16th. Call-In information for these meetings appears on the Members’ section of the DSABC website, dsabc.org. If you have not already made your account, please do so today as it is one of the primary ways you can conduct Union business and communicate with Union leaders.

3. 2021 Legislative Session Briefing

On Wednesday, December 2nd, DSABC President, Jeremy Payne, will be meeting virtually with CLEAT and all the County Presidents to discuss needs for County Deputies in the upcoming legislature. Following the meeting, DSABC will be providing a summary of the proceedings to all members.

4. Upcoming Constitutional Vote – 30 Day Notice 

This is the 30-Day Notice for an upcoming Constitutional Change Vote that will require your participation (Voting Dates TBD).

Article V, Officers, Directors, Nominations, Elections and Duties, Section 12 – Vacancy

Current language:
Section 12. Vacancy. Any vacancy occurring in the office of Vice President, Secretary or Treasurer and Board of Directors shall be filled for the balance of that term by appointment of a duly qualified member in good standing of the DSABC by the Board of Directors with the consent of the Executive Board by appointment of a duly qualified member in good standing of the DSABC. In the event that the office of President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer are vacant at the same time, or in the event that the Vice President refuses to accept the office of the President or becomes incapacitated, the Board of Directors shall appoint a Temporary President until such time as the vacant office(s) is/are filled by an election in a manner consistent with this Constitution. All vacancies shall be filled with a member assigned to the same division (Law Enforcement or Detention) as the person vacating the position was assigned.  

The current proposal that is being put up for a vote was proposed on October 28th, 2020 at the General Assembly Meeting and it states:
Any vacancy on the Executive Board, Board of Director, and Political Action Committee be filled by a Special Election to be called no later than 30 days from the date of the vacancy, and voted on by the tier in which the vacancy exit.
