SAN ANTONIO, TX – The Deputy Sheriff’s Association of Bexar County (DSABC), through its charitable arm ACT DSABC, spread holiday joy today during its first annual “Cookies with Santa” community event. Held at 9200 Broadway, Suite 120, the event brought together more than 100 children, their families, and community supporters for a day of celebration, giving, and fun.

Children received special gifts, wrote heartfelt letters to Santa, and enjoyed a festive spread of cookies, food, and drinks generously provided by local vendors. Adding a touch of innovation to the holiday cheer, The Battle Stallions, a Robotics FTC Team from the School of Science and Technology of San Antonio, impressed attendees with a live robotics demonstration that inspired curiosity and excitement about STEM fields.

Ron Tooke, President of the DSABC, expressed his gratitude for everyone who helped make the event a success. “This event wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support of our volunteers, vendors, and community partners. Their generosity and hard work brought smiles to so many children and families today, and we’re deeply thankful for their dedication.”

“The holiday season is a time of hope, and sometimes the smallest gestures—like a toy, a cookie, or a letter to Santa—can mean the world to a child in need,” said Veronica Drake, Executive Director of ACT DSABC. “For many of these children, this event is more than just a celebration; it’s a reminder that they are seen, valued, and loved. We are humbled to play a part in making their holidays a little brighter and grateful to everyone who came together to make this possible.”

Deputies disguised as Santa and the Grinch brought laughter and joy, while children of deputies received Deputy Teddy Bears, a token of appreciation for the families who support those who serve and protect.

The event also served as a vital collection point for the ongoing toy drive, aimed at brightening the holidays for families in need across Bexar County.
